Free member registration

Next, you should register.

You need to register, in order to use the Cafetalk services.Registration is free and easily done from the website.You do not need to pay a registration fee, initial fee or monthly fees.

Point purchase

You will need to buy enough points to have one paid lesson.The minimum amount of points required is 1900 points($19.95-tax included,1995yen-tax included) and you can pay either by credit card or bank deposit!

Also, many Cafetalk tutors offer free trial lessons for 0 points(free of charge), so don't hesitate to take a trial. Please note: you cannot have more than one free trial lesson with the same tutors or the same lesson.

Search for tutor or lesson

When you have finished your preparation, it is time to find the perfect tutor and lesson for you.Cafetalk allows you to search not only by home country, native language and Japanese language level, but also by the time at which you want to have the lesson.

You are free to choose a tutor with similar hobbies or background or a tutor with a lot of professional experience.For example, if you plan to visit a certain country, you can try to find a tutor from that country and have a lesson, while also hearing valuable local information.You can also check the verbal self introduction of some of the tutors and decide which pronunciation and way of talking suits you best.

You can change tutors every day, so please try different tutors in order to find the best tutor for you.

Lesson reservation

After you find a tutor and lesson you like, you need to reserve it.

Please, check the TOP page for the tutors, who are currently online as you may be able to start a lesson immediately.

Confirmation of the lesson

After you request a lesson, please wait for a confirmation from the tutor.The tutor will check your request and confirm his availability with an email or message.Then, there comes time for the lesson.

We recommend you decide topics you would like to discuss during the lesson.By deciding topics, both you and the tutor can prepare in order to have a valuable and smooth lesson. By preparing for the discussion topics, you can check some of the needed vocabulary and use it immediately in a real situation. Be determined: “ I will find a way to insert this phrase into the conversation today!”

Lesson start

Please, log into Skype a little bit before the lesson. When the time comes, start!It is important to first explain your expectations.

Lesson finish

When the lesson finishes, go to “My Page” and open this lesson’s request under Requests and click “Lesson end”.(Your tutor can also do this,in which case,you won't need to.)We at Cafetalk constantly strive to improve our services, which is why we request that the students evaluate the tutors.

Also, after a certain time, you will receive a “tutor’s review”, so please confirm.
